Several hundred people turned out at the Fairfield County vigil held at the Trumbull Town Hall gazebo on Saturday, June 6, said Trumbull Police Lt. Brian Weir.

This protest vigil remained peaceful throughout and took place without any vandalism or acts of violence, Weir said.

Due to the sunny and hot weather, five attendees were overcome by the heat and required medical attention.

Trumbull Police officers and Trumbull EMS personnel rendered aid, with required two people to be transported to the hospital for additional treatment.

"The Trumbull Police Department would like to remind the public that we are dedicated to serving and working with the community," Weir said. "We strive to continue a strong partnership with all members of the Trumbull community and provide safety and comfort to everyone who visits this town."

The department added that they stand against all and any form of brutality and racism, and will continue to operate with transparency.
